INFO : The following topics/conditions in this Atlas are covered, each containing several images: maturation sequence, anemias, leukemias, parasites and fungus etc. The Atlas is aimed at hematologists, medical school students, biologists and professionals working in the field of morphology of blood cells.
INFO : Large-scale genomic sequencing at Baylor College of Medicine began in 1993 in the laboratory of Dr. Richard Gibbs. The Baylor College of Medicine Human Genome Sequencing Center was established in 1996 as a one of six large-scale sequencing pilot projects funded by NHGRI. We are currently entering into a new phase in March of 1999, as part of a research network for large-scale sequencing, in collaboration with the Washington University Genome Sequencing Center and Whitehead Institute/ MIT. Our growth since our original inception has been phenomenal. In 1996 we had 20 employees, 2,500 square feet of space, 8 sequencing machines, $1.8 million in funding and completed 1 million bases of sequence. As of Feburary 1999 we have 94 employees, 14,000 square feet of space, 21 sequencing machines, $10 million in funding and we have completed 20 million bases of sequence. In a typical month we will run 65,000 sequencing reactions, run 1,368 sequencing gels, process 16 gigabytes of trace data and submit 1.5 million bases of sequence to GenBank.
INFO : Explore the lives of "whirling animals", take a detailed tour of the surface of a sea star, examine the evolution and diversity of the eye, match microscopic larva of a marine animal with its adult form, or investigate the natural history of one of the classic organisms of biology such a Daphnia or Planaria. BioMEDIA ASSOCIATES' biology education website provides Galleries on these and other topics illustrated with dramatic photographs and animations. The site features an Organism-of-the-Month contest and quiz, a collection of downloadable teaching resources and an on-line catalog of BioMEDIA's instructional videos and CD-ROMs.
INFO : Research in the fields of biosensors, bioelectrochemistry, bioelectronics performed in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. Tutorials, data bases, dictionaries for electrochemists and biologists.

INFO : The Brain Tumor Center of the Neurological Institute is a multidisciplinary center dedicated to the treatment and clinical research of primary and metastic cancers of the brain, spinal cord, and nerve roots.
INFO : A collection of images of cellular patterns of leukocytes, erythrocytes and platelets that resemble everyday objects. This light- hearted collection is provided by Nivaldo Medeiros MD.
