Class 4 Lyases IAuthor(s): Schomburg, D., Universität zu Köln, Germany; Schomburg, I., Universität zu Köln, Germany (Eds
ISBN: 3-540-42129-7
Publisher:

Price: $278.63

Summary: The objective of the Springer Handbook of Enzymes is to provide in concise form data on enzymes sufficiently well characterized. Data sheets are arranged in their EC-Number sequence. Each volume comprises one enzyme class, sometimes the enzyme classes have to be divided into several volumes. Considerable progress has been made in enzymology since the publication of the first edition (published as "Enzyme Handbook): many enzymes are newly classified or reclassified. In the 2nd edition each entry is correlated with references and one or more source organisms. New datafields are created: "application" and "engineering" (for the properties of enzymes where the sequence has been changed). Altogether the amount of data has doubled so that the 2nd edition will consist of approx. 25 volumes. This collection is an indispensable source of information for researchers in biochemistry, biotechnology, organic and analytical chemistry, and food sciences.
Encyclopedia of Food Mycotoxins
Encyclopedia of Food MycotoxinsAuthor(s): Weidenbörner, M., Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, Germany
ISBN: 3-540-67556-6
Publisher:

Price: $117.44

Summary: There are various species of fungi which like to grow on food, thereby releasing toxins which might bear a health risk for the consumer. All foods which have been reported to be contaminated with mycotoxins are listed, including data on the degree of contamination, the concentration of the toxins and the country of origin and/or detection of the contaminated food. All relevant toxin producing fungi, their natural occurence, the possible mycotoxicosis, further the biochemical and physiological effects of mycotoxins, their chemical data and toxicity are treated comprehensively. For each mycotoxin, reference is given to the food at risk.
Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology
 Bergey`s Manual of Systematic BacteriologyAuthor(s): Garrity, G. M., (Managing Ed.); Boone, D. R.; Castenholz, R. W. (Eds.)
ISBN: 0-387-98771-1
Publisher:

Price: $123.03

Summary: Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology, one of the most comprehensive and authoritative works in the field of bacterial taxonomy, has been extensively revised in the form of a five volume Second Edition. Since the first edition was published in 1984, the field has undergone explosive growth, with over 2,200 new species and 390 new genera having been described. This new edition has been completely reorganized along phylogenetic lines to reflect the current state of prokaryotic taxonomy but still maintains the familiar layout of the First Edition. In addition to the detailed treatments, provided for all of the validly named and well-known species of prokaryotes, new ecological information and more extensive introductory chapters have been added. Use of the manual is aided by a system of cross referencing between the phylogenetic groups and the phenotypic groups used in the First Edition.
Molecular Staging of Cancer
Molecular Staging of CancerAuthor(s): Allgayer, H., Heiss, M.M., Schildberg, F.W., (Eds.)
ISBN: 3-540-43469-0
Publisher:

Price: $111.84

Summary: An explosion of information has occurred since scientists began to define the molecular events that describe the malignant transformation and progression of cells and their development towards a life-threatening metastatic disease. The First International Congress on Molecular Staging of Cancer, held in Munich in December 2001, aimed to establish an international platform of exchange among molecular biologists, cell biologists, tumor immunologists, and clinical and surgical oncologists. This network approach should be fruitful for both clinicians and researchers. The highlighted topics included tumor-associated proteolysis, minimal residual disease, new approaches for molecular diagnosis and targeting, and the first molecular staging models. One session focused on technology transfer, opening up a new field of funding for innovative concepts. Finally, the impact of molecular staging on clinical strategies was discussed.
